About Megan

“Relational trust is built on movements of the human heart such as empathy, commitment, passion, patience, and the capacity to forgive.” — Parker Palmer

Hi, I’m Megan, an art educator, instructional designer, photographer, and lifelong creative passionate about designing meaningful learning experiences.

I hold a B.S. in Art Education and a B.F.A. in Photography from Penn State University, along with an M.Ed. in Instructional Design and Technology from Texas Tech University. Over the past decade, I have taught in public schools, military-connected communities, homeschool enrichment programs, and online learning spaces, working with learners ranging from young children to adults.

At the heart of my work is a belief that creativity helps people feel more connected: to themselves, to others, and to the world around them. Whether I am teaching elementary art, designing digital curriculum, creating instructional videos, or helping adults learn photography, I aim to make learning approachable, engaging, and deeply human.

My background in photography continues to shape how I teach. Photography taught me to slow down, observe closely, ask questions, and notice relationships, skills that naturally extend into my educational philosophy. I believe art education is most meaningful when students are encouraged to explore ideas, think critically, take creative risks, and develop confidence in their own voices.

In addition to classroom teaching, I founded Manual Mode for Moms, an online photography education platform that helps mothers confidently use their cameras and document meaningful family memories. Through this work, I have developed curriculum, produced video-based instruction, designed downloadable learning resources, and created accessible educational experiences for adult learners.

Across every setting, my goal remains the same: to create thoughtful, visually engaging learning experiences that help people feel curious, capable, and inspired.

When I’m not teaching or designing curriculum, you can usually find me creating alongside my kids, tackling a home DIY project, spending time outdoors, or with a camera in hand.
